Annise Parker for Mayor of Houston
When then City Controller Annise Parker decided to run for Mayor of Houston in 2009, her opponents had more money and the backing of the city’s business establishment – in spite of the fact that Parker had been in public office for eleven years. Although Parker did not have high negatives, her gender and sexual orientation created a ceiling that was difficult to break through.
Using a tightly coordinated combination of communications, new media and traditional organizing tools, we helped Parker locate and activate a base of progressive women, liberal Democrats and LGBT voters. We worked closely with the entire team to relentlessly drive coordinated messages – on both positive and negative tracks – to deliver victory.
